For friends like us who love nothing more than a quick weekend getaway, 6Sixteen The Banks was the perfect destination just on the outskirts of Sydney. You’d never think this peaceful, picturesque escape was so closely accessible - its lush farmland surroundings and Blue Mountains backdrop made us feel like we were worlds away from our busy city life.
The ‘tiny house’ was perfectly spacious and comfortable contrary to its name, and we didn’t lack for anything during our two-night stay. We woke up to gorgeous views in the mornings, enjoyed meals and indulgent cheese and wine platters on the scenic veranda throughout the day, and welcomed sunset in the luxurious, private wood-fire bathtub (seriously - this was an absolute highlight!)
Though we could’ve happily spent our three days without leaving the property (thanks to the hot tub, fire pit, hammock and more), there was plenty to enjoy just a short drive away. We visited a couple of the quaint towns in the Blue Mountains, went swimming in the bush, and said hello to some of the friendly horses living close by.
EXPLORING QUAINT LEURA
There are countless surrounding towns in the Blue Mountains to explore at will - but we chose the iconic, quaint Leura to pass our first day. We visited the town chocolatier, about five different vintage stores, artisan clothing and jewelry boutiques, and the local bakery for a yummy pie. This is a great town to pick up a unique gift for yourself or for a loved one - we certainly drove home with our bags full!
On the way back, we also stopped by Mountain Culture Brewery in Katoomba to enjoy a local cider.
