Rainbow Retreat Tiny Away is an easy 3.5 hour drive from Sydney on the picturesque Barrington Coast. (Tip: follow the directions from your host, not the GPS!)
This region is a gateway to both the Pacific Ocean and the hinterland on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, offering plentiful adventures.
Around 15 minutes north of Nabiac, Tiny Away at Rainbow Retreat, was our home-away-from-home for a couple of nights.
This acreage delight was off a dirt road, perched high on a ridge, feeling a world away from the hustle and bustle but really only a short distance from cafes and shops.
We woke to the sounds of gleeful kookaburras and watched the sun set in the company of shy but curious wallabies. The sun was a fiery, sinking orange glow between the towering tree surrounds, and later as the sun disappeared, the stars were plentiful in the dark sky, the Milky Way dazzling above.
Our Tiny Away home was a welcome place to rest for the weekend, an ambient spot to sit by a fire, sip a red wine, embracing the quiet before retreating to a comfortable bed for the night.
Rainbow Retreat Tiny Away is only a short drive to beaches, lakes, and forest walks of the area, a stone's throw from panoramic views of the ocean.
