As an advocate and major supporter of sustainable living and minimalist design, staying in a tiny home was an exciting and very new experience for us. Starry night offered a cozy retreat and we escaped the hustle and bustle of city life. I must say, I had never been to Forbes, and it's definitely a place that slipped under the radar for me.
In terms of exploration, we went to a big complex park, which was very open and had plenty of running space for my 18-month-old to burn some energy.
We went to a local pub to have some dinner, and I'll say, I was so impressed with the food. It was made with tender love and care and delivers something exciting for the rural and remote community. There were some interesting historical facts throughout the street - but my favorite read was Ian Walsh's story, which you can find at the local pub.
Back to the tiny home, the kitchen was surprisingly well-equipped. It had all the essentials needed to whip up a simple meal, and the thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, olive oil, and reusable utensils - which aligned perfectly with the sustainable ethos of tiny living. Our host, Leanne, went above and beyond, by giving us fresh eggs straight from her chickens, which was the cherry on top for our stay.
There was a lot of mindfulness surrounding the fire danger rating, which did not allow us to light a fire and use the fireplace. It was a warm day, and was unnecessary but I knew this would be so lovely in the wintertime. We were very impressed with the safety precautions put into place to avoid bushfires - we appreciated this a lot.
Outside, the tiny home was surrounded by nature, and plants that were native to Forbes. We don't see these plants every day, Leanne grows grapes, olives, and pomegranate. Leanne was so kind and picked out a bunch of grapes to taste and try, which was so thoughtful.
Our stay in Forbes was so beautiful and I can confidently say we will be back. If you're looking for a unique getaway, I highly recommend giving Starry Night a try, even if it's just for a weekend escape.
